The privacy of your data — and it is your data, not ours! — is a big deal to us. We’ll only ever access your account to help you with a problem, squash a software bug, or unless you specifically ask us to.
Account Information
When you sign up for Farmwell, we collect information such your name, e-mail address and billing information. That's just so you can personalize your new account, use location-based features (such as local food search and driving instructions) and we can send you invoices, updates, or other essential information. We’ll NEVER sell your personal info to third parties, and we won’t use your name or company in marketing statements without your permission, either.
When you write Farmwell with a question or to ask for help, we'll keep that correspondence, and the email address, for future reference. When you browse our site, we'll track that for statistical purposes (like conversion rates and to test new designs). We also store any information you volunteer, like surveys, for as long as it makes sense.
The only times Farmwell will ever share your info:
- To provide products or services you've requested, with your permission.
- To investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of our Terms of Service, or as otherwise required by law.
- If Farmwell is acquired by or merged with another company — we seriously don’t plan on that, but if it happens — we’ll notify you well before any info about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Information you share by using Farmwell
Farmwell Sellers
Obviously, by selling on Farmwell some of your data is visible to the public so they can buy your products (such as descriptions and photos of your farm, food, delivery sites, ratings, etc). You can clearly see what information is public yourself by visiting your own public pages.
Of course, sensitive information about your business is never public. For example:
- Financial information such as sales, number of customers and orders
- Information about your customers, orders and deliveries and payments
- Messages sent between users
Farmwell Buyers
As a buyer, your information is not publicly visible. Only when you purchase from sellers do they see information such as:
- Your name
- Your email, phone, and location (your street address is not shared unless you choose home delivery)
- Your ratings
Communication between Buyers and Sellers
Buyers and sellers can send messages to each other in Farmwell, but only their first name and the message itself is shared. This allows email addresses to remain private.
Statistics
Farmwell keeps usage statistics for it's own use, monitoring data such as total number of users, sales, products, pages visited, etc in order to keep the system running smoothly and to understand how it is being used. Statistics may be made public in aggregate, but never in a way that identifies a particular person or business.
Data Storage & Security
The whole Farmwell site is protected with the same encryption used by online banks.
Farmwell is hosted at Linode, a world-class server hosting provider. Farmwell also uses third party vendors and hosting partners to provide the necessary hardware, software, networking, storage, and related technology required to run Farmwell. Although Farmwell owns the code, databases, and all rights to the Farmwell application, you retain all rights to your data.
Credit Card Data
Only sellers paying for the Service need to provide credit card details. Farmwell staff only ever see the last 4 digits of your credit card number because you don't give it to us. It goes directly and safely into the vault of our billing provider Chargebee, and payments are processed by Worldpay.
Law enforcement
Farmwell won’t hand your data over to law enforcement unless a court order says we have to. We would certainly do our best to contest any request that didn’t meet our own high moral and ethical code. We flat-out reject requests from any law enforcement when they seek data without a Canadian court order. And unless we're legally prevented from it, we’ll always inform you when such requests are made.
Changes & questions
Farmwell may update this policy once in a blue moon — we’ll notify you about significant changes by emailing the account owner or by placing a prominent notice on our site. You can access, change or delete your personal information at any time by contacting "support AT farmwell DOT com".
